HOST: Adrienne Garland: Leadership isn't just changing. It's evolving in ways we're only just beginning to imagine. And women, we're not playing this game anymore. We're the ones reshaping the entire field, building models, movements, and businesses that serve more than just a few. On the Sheets podcast, you'll hear real conversations with women who've broken through all kinds of barriers, revenue, identity, borders, and expectations. There's no sugar coating here, just the truth told by those who are living it. I'm Adrienne Garland, entrepreneur, strategist, educator, and creator of live experiences, gathering women leaders together for over a decade. And this is the Sheile Leads podcast. Hello everybody and welcome to the Sheile Leads Podcast. I am your host with the most, Adrienne Garland, and I am very, very excited to be talking to all of you today about our upcoming She Leads Live conference. It is happening on November 6th and November 7th in New York City.

(00:00:36)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: November 6th is our VIP evening and that is taking place at a multi-million dollar property staged by Cheryl Eisen and IMG New York City. So, if you have multi-million dollar property that you would like to sell and sell fast, you must get in touch with IMGNYC because they know how to stage your property for sale. Okay. So, our VIP evening is happening that night and we are having a an extraordinary evening. There will be a panel of investors and also the panel will be led by Cheryl Eisen. We will be talking about the importance of why investing in women is the smart move, why we why many more women need to do this and the way to do it and the why the why it's so important. Okay, we are going to kick the evening off with a poetry reading by an incredible creative talent. I will sort of refrain from talking about who that is. But I know that all of you that will join are going to be wowed and hopefully maybe even brought to tears or at least moved emotionally. We will have amazing, delicious food, light bites, drinks, some music, and of course networking. So I look forward to seeing you all at the VIP evening and then the very next day at the she leads live conference.

(00:01:46)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: where we will hear from over 20 speakers who are thinking about what is next. What is next for women, women entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs that are getting to and past that $1 million mark. And the reason that I have conceived of the conference in that way this year and with this theme of what's next is because I have been having really really interesting conversations with women over the past I would say 6 months. Women that have successfully started businesses, grown businesses, gotten those businesses past the 1 million, 2 million, 5, 10, $15 million mark and they are so damn proud of themselves. And they are asking themselves, okay, you know, I did it. I I'm here. I accomplished what I set out. to do. And I'm not done. You know, I'm still young. I still have a lot of energy. I I know what it takes now to build a business. And I can certainly do that again. Become a serial entrepreneur. I can lean into some of the things that are most important in my life. I can seek a little bit more balance perhaps. But after doing that for a little while, there is something else sort of itching underneath the surface. So, we are going to be exploring what what is itching below the surface and why it's so important for us to develop a vivid vision for our future that's even beyond our wildest dreams, beyond what we thought we might ever achieve. And I'm so excited to be able to lead this conversation. One of the things that I absolutely love to do is in my teaching, my entrepreneurial teaching, I love to really open up conversations and allow people to talk, right? I don't think any of us has the answers, right? But we all do have the answers for ourselves. I think it's very bold of some of these people that tout the elves as experts telling us how we need to behave, how we need to think, how we need to organize our businesses, how we need to develop our lives. There are as many ways to live as there are snowflakes that fall from the squ sky.

(00:03:22)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: And I want to make sure that we all feel safe exploring what some of those things are. Um, I want us all to feel safe sort of dreaming about what could be next and really going inside and asking ourselves, you know, what is important to us and why. Why why why are those things important in our lives, things that go beyond our professional selves, things that go beyond business. So yeah, we are going to be having these conversations throughout the two days she leads live. This is our 11th year we have been creating, curating conferences, speaking to innumerable amounts of people, really uncovering different ideas. You know, we we love a great conference where everything is, you know, laid out perfectly. Those are incredibly inspiring where everything is beautiful and shiny. And sometimes when we attend those conferences, we notice that a lot of the topics are the same. And there are definitely things that you cannot talk about enough. So, I'm I'm good with going to conferences like that and talking about the problems and challenges that continue to be pervasive in our society. The things that really prevent women from doing everything that we could do, being everything that we could be, not to quote the army, but I like to create these interesting spaces where conversations that maybe are slightly different definitely futurefacing where those types of things happen and where we can together come up with a plan for what's next or at least the experiment to try out to see if whatever it is that we're thinking of has legs, right?

(00:04:41)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: So, I would love to just talk about what the day looks like, how the day is going. going to flow. And I would like to be able to offer to anybody who is listening, if you have any questions about she leads live, what happens there, you know, what the flow of the day is, what you should plan for, all of that, just shoot me an email. Send an email to me at hello sheleads media.com and I would be happy to answer that question. And I cannot emphasize enough that it is incredibly transformational, for lack of a better word, to attend conferences like this live. There is just no substitute for meeting with people face to face with sharing ideas in a way that is much more personal, intimate. There are subtle nuances that always elude us when we are on Zoom, when we're on telephone calls, where we're rushing, rushing, rushing.

(00:05:32)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: And She Leads Live really gives you the opportunity before the end of the year to maybe form some new friendships, think about what's next for you in a completely different environment than what you may be used to. And That's where the magic happens. I have so many testimonials for people that tell me that after they attended a she leads live conference, everything changed for them. And you know, is it that they attended Sheile Leads and because everything that happened there changed them or are they people who almost self select, right? Those just on the cusp of change and when they surround themselves with others that are in that same mode, perhaps that's the the catalyst. So regardless of what the reason is, change happens. Change positive change happens for people who attend She Leads Live. We have one amazing client and and sponsor who has added an incremental an incremental $1 million to her topline revenue through all of the contacts and relationships that she's formed. formed through she leads media. I have another powerful testimonial from another woman who, you know, had her business in New York and now she's in four different locations. I have numerous stories of people coming up to me letting me know that, you know, something that was said, something that happened, some person that they met at a she leads live conference changed the trajectory of their lives. That's why I have continued to host the She Leads Live conference for 11 years. Hearing stories like that from people who are incredible right now, you know, asis and that they go on to this, you know, tremendous amount of success. And I don't mean success just from a pure monetary point of view, but also from a personal missiondriven growth perspective point of view, right? You have to be able to really know yourself and know what success means to you, what it looks like. As women, that absolutely changes throughout our lives. You know, what I wanted when I was, you know, 23 is very different than what I want now and what I think success is now. It evolves. It changes. because it transforms just like we do.

(00:07:22)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: So, I'd love to sort of take a pause here and then when I come back, I will give you more details about just the different sessions, the different speakers, and again open it up to you. If you'd like to send me an email and let me know if you have any questions, let me know what you're thinking. I'd love to hear that. Again, it's hello at she leads media.com. You can also DM me over on Instagram at sheleads media sheleads media and I'm also on LinkedIn and so is she leads media. So please feel free to go there and if you want to buy ticket we have a special 25% discount offer for anybody who is listening in to this podcast right now. We need more of that. And that's why really really would like you to come to take a pause out of your your busy dayto-day doing the things that you are doing and maybe reconsidering what some of those things are. You know, are they in alignment with what you truly want to be focusing on in the next, you know, 2, 5, 10 years. So, when I come back, we will dive into the details in greater detail and talk to you soon.

(00:08:48)

(00:10:56)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: This part of the podcast is just going to be going over everything that you can expect on Thursday, November 6th and Friday, November 7th. So on Thursday, November 6th, the day starts at MM Lafleur. Mm Laflur is a clothing brand for professional women that was started back in, I believe it was about 2015. And they specifically designed beautiful, washable, wearable clothes for professional women and because of COVID and the fact that people weren't going into offices quite as often and also the fact that it has really become more of a business casual environment. Mm. Lafleur had to re-imagine some of what they do. So, they are coming back. They are coming back stronger than ever and they have a beautiful showroom in Bryant Park. And so, from 12 to 2 on Thursday, November 6. Mm. Laflur is hosting a sip and greet for us. So, you can go by the showroom at any time between 12 and 2:00 p.m. for open networking. They are going to be giving us a nice discount. I believe it's $50 off any item. Um, so you might want to pick something up for the conference or for the VIP evening. So, we will see you there anytime between 12 and two, it's casual and you can come by at any time.

(00:12:07)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: Then on Thursday evening, for those of you that purchase, specifically purchase either the combo ticket, which includes the VIP evening and the conference, or if you purchase the VIP evening alone, those of you who have done that will receive the private address that we will be hosting our VIP evening at. So, the property is a multi-million dollar property that is staged for sale by IMG, which is Integrated Marketing Group New York City, and its founder, Cheryl. Cheryl is hosting us this Thursday, November 6th, and she has been around she leads for quite a few years. She is a great friend to us. and we just absolutely love and adore Charl and IMG New York City. That event starts at 5:30 at night. We will kick off the evening with a welcome drink and some networking. We also will be treated to an opening reading of poetry by a woman who has been on this podcast. Her name is Janna Willoughby Lore. And J is a a a creative genius. She owns a company called Papercraft Miracles. Um she is a musician. She's a poet. She's a mom. She's a wife. She's a just a super cool person that I cannot wait. She read me the poem and it brought me to tears and I hope it will move you in the same way. Then we move into our investing. So, our panel is all about investing in women now and for the future and why that is so important. We'll get to look at every nook and cranny in this incredible property with views of New York City. I really love to do these VIP evenings at these spectacular properties because I think it's so important to embody what is possible. So, come for the VIP evening or come for the VIP evening and the conference the next day.

(00:13:46)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: So, moving on to the conference Friday, November 7th. It is taking place at the Renaissance Marriott Chelsea location. The that location is known because that location houses Somewhere Nowhere, which is a hot club that we probably will be going to at at the end of the conference. But the day kicks off At 8:15 in the morning, we are going to have just open casual networking. We have a lot of different vendors that will be displaying there that you can talk to. Check out some of the things that they are selling. Uh getting to know these incredible people, some of which who will be speaking at Sheile Leads. So, come for breakfast, come for your coffee. And then at 9:15, we will be getting into opening remarks by yours truly and then kicking off the day in a really high energy way with Carol Frasier who talks all about how dancing can bring energy and impact to any situation and why it's so important to just make sure that you are moving. It's a a high performance tool that anybody can can use as long as you can move. So we'll be kicking off the day there.

(00:14:52)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: Then we're moving into a very important panel that is moderated by me. It's all about our businesses and our lives. How different phases and circumstances impact our business selves. The three speakers are Vivian Moroi, Katherine Miller, and Shira Yevan. Each one of them has different circumstances. They talk about things from different perspectives. We are talking divorce. We're talking parenting. are talking the single life and health issues and how that impacts how we move through the world and how that affects our business. Next up after a little transition time, we are going to be hearing from Dr. Sharon Melnik who will be speaking to us about how to really embrace AI and your personal power. So instead of being afraid of, you know, what's coming with AI and how to sort of reinvent yourself in this age of AI, how to really leverage it no matter where you are in your business. Next up is our famous pitch the media panel moderated by Rosemary Ravvenol. We also have incredible panelists Jen Oliva from Oliva Media, Dr. Cheryl Robinson from Forbes Women, we have the author of the milliondoll oneperson business and an independent journal. who specializes in entrepreneurship in Elaine Poffelt. Also, we have Ashley Bernardi who is a public relations professional and Nat Natalie Bro, who is one of the editors of Ageless Living magazine. So, a super exciting panel where members of the audience will get up in front of these journalists and pitch themselves and their businesses to the media and get feedback on what it takes in order to capture their attention and get the media attention that you as a business owner deserve and someone who is also setting themselves up for what's to come as far as impact in your future.

(00:16:40)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: Next up, we have Simone Ngo. She is speaker on kitchen table leadership. So, you know, leading from ex ly where you are and what that looks like in today's day and age. Next up, we have the amazing Robin Nissum, who is going to teach us all about social media for those of us who are just over social media at this point and who sort of cringe at it. Let's do a little reframe of what social media is all about and let's make it so that it's not so cringey and that we actually use it. it again to our advantage. Next up is Christine Laieri who is speaking to us all about legacy, leadership and impact. I will leave it there. She is absolutely incredible and inspirational and you will get to experience her. Next up is Amriita Samraan. She's a PhD and she is going to talk to us about what it means to delete the word normal from our vernacular so that we can grow post collective pain that we have all experienced after co what is normal is going to be teased out explored and we are going to figure out ways to move forward again without really being so normal which I totally you love.

(00:17:50)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: Next up is another panel that I'm super excited about. We have Rochelle from Calgary Economic Development Center and a representative from the organization Doing Business France. The reason that we are putting together this fireside chat is to open up our minds to think about what it's like to do business on a global scale and what is the support that's available to any person who wants to expand their business beyond the the borders of the US. There's so much opportunity out there and there's so much there's so much support. You know, how do we think in a more globally minded way? Next, we are going to hear from investor Kristen Wanch. She is a huge advocate for investing in women and she's going to tell us why that is so important and show us that we can invest in women even if we are not accredited investors. There are definitely things that we can be doing today to invest in women and womenowned businesses. Next is an incredible panel made up of a very high level photographer, stylist, and mental health professional. It's all about how you want to be seen, how you want to be treated, and how you treat yourself. And why it's so important to drown out the noise and really just be you. We need more individuals and we need more. We need less of some of the shiny things that we see on social media that make us feel less than. We're over this. So, we're going to explore what it looks like to really stand in your own essence. Really stand in your own individualism and what that looks like for you and how important it is that you do this for yourself, for your peers, and for all of the women that are coming up behind you. We need to be leading the way. And we will close out the day with our closing keynote from Julie Anderson. She's known the world over as the brain lady. And she will help us understand what neurop Plasticity is all about neurallinginguistics and everything that we can do in order to change our brain for success and for what we want to be bringing into our lives.

(00:19:40)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: That is a packed day. There is networking in here. There is lunch in here. There's ample opportunity to form strategic relationships. And the couple of things that I'd like to say is that she leads is very rare and special type of gathering that is for people who are serious about expanding their minds, expanding their businesses, and expanding possibilities. We have an incredible success story from one of the participants and sponsors of Sheile Leads. Her business now has an incremental $1 million in pipeline revenue just from the Sheile Leads conference. alone over the last couple of years. It's stat a hard stat that I am so proud of. I also just received an email the other day from another woman. I think I mentioned this before that her business was in one location and now it's in four after attending she leads live last year. Incredible. I have numerous stories from people that come back to me after a year or two and they have said to me that the change and perspective that they received from attending she leads live has transformed their lives for the better. You can talk to anybody that has attended the conference in the past. I do think that it's important to set yourself up and be open to these opportunities. You know, sometimes these conferences that are so so big, there might be a lot of people there, but it's a very busy type of conference and it's hard to form a deep relationship even when the content is stellar. So, She Leads Live offers people the opportunity to get to know each other in, I think, a much deeper and more intimate way. We are real people that attend the conference that have real businesses that are thinking about real things. And I'm told how special over and over I'm told how special She Leads Live is.

(00:21:28)
HOST: Adrienne Garland: the care with which I curate the speakers, the environment, and create a safe space for all to express exactly who they are and what they're thinking about without any judgment is something that I'm incredibly proud of. I have been teaching at NYU and at Rice University for almost or at NYU for over 5 years, at Rice for almost 5 years, taking students, MBA students on global field experiences for that amount of time to all kinds of different countries mainly in South America and we work with different startup companies. So we have been I have personally been exposed to so many different types of business across businesses across every industry imaginable and it's so important to truly listen. Listen for opportunities, listen for challenges that are are simmering below the surface and being able to offer up solutions to students, to companies that really honor who they are. The transformation that happens when you give somebody the space to express who they are and what they're thinking about and you guide them down a path is something that is explainable, but that I am constantly being I guess praised, if that's the the right word, being constantly praised for. And it's something that I feel honored to be able to do because because for me it is something that comes naturally. I am curious beyond beyond belief and also curious about where things emanate from and what it is that we're trying to accomplish in this life. And often times that comes through our business. So our business is more than just our business. Our business is a way that we are trying to potentially work through something, potentially write some type of wrong that we see in the world or that maybe is personal to us. And so I honor when people speak about their businesses. Because while we need to be approaching business with a business mind, often times our business is inextric inextricably linked to who we are as human beings. So I consider it an amazing honor to be able to give women the space to speak on stage at Sheile Leads. I I consider it an incredible honor that someone purchase a purchases a ticket and honors themselves in order to learn from other people your ticket now because we're more than halfway full. And again, if you want to get a little bit of a discount to just make it easier for you to come into New York City, use code the Shelley's podcast. And I will see you there. Thank you so much for sticking around and I can't wait to see you on November 6th and 7th.

(00:24:00)
